Land Justice through Urban Agriculture in Philadelphia:
Beginning in 2011, MFF supported a cohort of grassroots urban agriculture organizations that strengthen community and youth leadership, bolster equitable neighborhood level food systems, reinforce cultural connections, and secure land for residents. As a long-time funder, MFF is committed to ensuring the sustainability of Philadelphia’s urban agriculture movement as years of advocacy come to fruition. For the next five years, MFF will support:
Neighborhood based groups who are implementing community led urban agriculture projects that engage a multi-generational membership and part of the city-wide movement for land justice;
City-wide urban agriculture allies who provide critical garden and farm infrastructure and capacity building;
City-wide anchor organizations who provide essential legal advocacy and community organizing capacity, as well as education and training for grassroots leaders.
