APPLICATION PROCESS
Beginning in 2024, Merck Family Fund (MFF) will no longer accept unsolicited grant applications.
Historically, MFF accepted unsolicited Letters of Inquiry (LOI) through our on-line application process. Moving forward, we will not be accepting unsolicited inquiries for a number of reasons:
After reviewing the hundreds of unsolicited LOI’s over the past 20+ years, we determined that a fraction of them actually met the criteria for our programs and that we learned more by word of mouth from our partner grantees and funders.
In order to offer the unsolicited LOI, MFF’s simple and inexpensive on-line platform required that all returning grantees (the majority of our grantmaking) continue to fill out an LOI to access the full proposal form, adding unnecessary work for our core partners.
Moving forward, this will simplify our grant process for current and prospective partners allowing them to submit already prepared proposals and reports.
MFF currently offers two funding cycles; specific details forthcoming with an invitation to apply:
Proposal deadline of early February for an early May decision.
Proposal deadline of mid August for an early November decision.
